An award-winning filmmaker, Roz Owen is a writer and director working in both drama and documentary. Born in the UK, where she spent her childhood, she now lives in Toronto with her partner Jim Miller (co-producer/editor) and son Lucas. Her recent feature doc, Portrait of Resistance: The Art & Activism of Carole Condé & Karl Beveridge, has gained critical acclaim in screenings across Canada and internationally. Her short dramas, including Genie nominated YOU LOVE ME I HATE YOU have shown at many world festivals world including TIFF, Locarno, Namur Belgium, and Mexico City. Roz has written four dramatic feature scripts, and in 2006 was awarded the KODAK New Vision Fellowship for her writing. She has also directed episodic television. Currently she also teaches film production at Ryerson University. Roz has been a director-resident at the Canadian Film Centre and an invited participant at Praxis and Cinemart. She is preparing to shoot her feature Historic Homes of the Future in 2017, to be followed by her Canadian-British co-production, Look Both Ways.
